Self Catering Holiday Cottages
We are proud to announce that we are the 2011 winners of 'Best Self Catering in Lancashire' awarded by Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board. As we were unable to attend the awards ceremony, our daughter Zoe and her partner Chris received the trophy on our behalf from Jodie Prenger at the glittering dinner held in Blackpool. Due to this success, we will now represent Lancashire in the 'Visit England' Awards 2012. Martin Lane FarmMartin Lane Farm is a quiet rural retreat with four beautiful, award winning, self-catering, holiday cottages. Our latest addition, The Stable, is the only 5 star rated, fully accessible holiday cottage in Lancashire. The Dairy, the Shippon and the Granary all have a 4 star rating. Nestling in the heart of the rich arable farmland of West Lancashire and only 4 miles from the elegant seaside resort of Southport, peace and quiet are guaranteed yet, within 5 - 10 minutes, you can be in the delightful village of Burscough, the bustling market town of Ormskirk or Southport town centre with everything this beautiful holiday resort has to offer.
The CottagesThe cottages range in size and each has its own distinctive style and character, The Dairy(sleeps 2), the Shippon (sleeps 4/5) and the Granary (sleeps 6) and are all situated around an enclosed cobbled courtyard. Each cottage has its own outside patio area and we have safe off-road parking for up to 6 cars. The Stable (sleeps 4)and has is accessed by its own private drive. It has a large patio area and safe parking. We have tried to retain as many original features as possible whilst still providing modern, easy care facilities. There is a large garden where you can sit and relax or play games with the children and where you will find our free range hens roaming around. Our black 'Hebridean' sheep will come to the fence to say "Hello" and the geese are delighted to be fed with left-over bread. Our 'hide' is always available to all our guests, hopefully, to catch a glimpse of the barn owls!
